Devil May Cry 2

For the win, actually

Devil May Cry 2 is known to be the biggest mistake in Capcom history, because Dante grew up, and Lucia was stupid with an even stupider French accent, lack of storyline (WHAT?! I like Argosax...) and the game itself is rather too easy (Well, yeah, but then people bitch about the rest of the games in the series being hard, which I don't find hard myself). But me? I love this game a TON MORE than the original.

Devil May Cry 2 is total bad ass. Fast paced action, stylish moves and even snazzier clothing for the characters. I find it a ton better than the original Devil May Cry, but I do have to say, it can't even TOUCH the third game's hardcore awesomeness to the maxx0rz. To be honest, I can no longer stand the first game. Back in 2001 I could, but now, after recently playing it, it bored the crap out of me. You know why? It is WAY too slow compared to Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening.

There is a story. The story actually suggests (to me, anyway) that Sparda could still be alive or wasn't killed after sealing away Temen-Ni-Gru atleast (and actually proof enough for me that Dante and Vergil are not 2000 years old), because Matier actually tells Lucia, when Dante goes into hell, that everything is as it was with Sparda, meaning she KNOWS that Sparda came back from hell meaning she knew that Dante would not fail. However, don't take that to heart, that is just my opinion, and I am aware that Devil May Cry's storyline isn't what you call a lot of sense.

I also LOVE Lucia. She was a total babe and really bad ass. Chick with blades? Woah. Chick with throwing blades? WOAH. Her story was brilliant, not non-existant. For those who THINK that this game had no storyline. Here was Lucia's in brief (damn, I am so tempted to build this chick a shrine, but a small one already exists): Lucia was a bio-engineered weapon whose only purpose was to kill humans in Arius' little world domination scheme. Lucia had emotions and wouldn't kill people, Arius, rather than telling her, attempted to kill her, she was saved by Matier, who raised her in the Vie Du Marli clan to become a protecter of the human race. Arius (years later I guess) was ready to fulfill his plan in world domination, attempted to raise the demon king Argosax the Chaos who was sealed away by Sparda using these artifacts -- the Arcanas. Lucia was told to get help from Dante in retrieving this artifacts before Arius does by Matier, a woman who defended the Clan's Island with Sparda, the main man himself. They succeeded, but after Lucia was told by Arius himself that she was a defect -- a mannequin that went wrong, she lost control and decided that she had to be the one to take out Arius and his evil ambition. She failed, was about to be killed, but Dante arrived in the nick of time and had to save the girl as it's his weakness. Lucia explains everything to Dante and cries for she is demonic scum. Dante wiped away her tears and told her Devils never cry and went into hell alone and left Lucia in the human realm. Where she would later get some payback, as Arius was asking for a fight, and she kicked his ass and destroyed him while Dante took on King Argosax the Chaos and The Embodiment of Despair.

Oh, and Dante's personality change? Dude. His mother was killed, his brother was taken away by demons and he later turned into Nelo Angelo -- wouldn't YOU take a more serious turn into life like Dante did? However, if you played the first game, notice that Dante was possessed by the power of Sparda, perhaps Sparda was just like Devil May Cry 2's Dante and a part of Sparda lives on in Dante. Also note, that perhaps Dante is trying to be his brother -- actually, scrap all those theories, because even though I like the game, I do have to embrace the fact that it was a collaboration with DIESEL clothing to make the charcters wear pretty clothing... or so it seems, because they were in the credit line and Dante and Lucia were wearing their merchandise in unlockable costumes. So that is perhaps where Capcom's money went, rather than towards the voice acting?

To conclude this useless space wasting page: please, don't hate Devil May Cry 2. It is a great game, the one I play most (I've only played the third game 3 times in my life! I don't play video games very often, though). Give it a chance. It is bad ass. And is a part of the storyline, so don't deny it.
